Special CollectionsThere are numerous organizations supported by the congregation at Lexington Presbyterian Church. Some of these are seasonal, e.g. The Joy Offering and the Jesse Tree at Christmas. Others are suggested in response to unexpected disasters. Please look below for more on these opportunities for assistance and outreach. 4¢-a-MealThis offering, which supplies in part the Presbyterian Hunger Program, is collected on the first Sunday of each month. TOOLS OF HOPE can also be ordinary things and things that we often take for granted like ... fishing nets ... clean water ... education ... small-enterprise loans ... garden tools ... seeds and things which can make a world of difference for people devastated by tragedy, as well as those working to build a better life for themselves and their communities. In the 2008 offering our church contributed $1,492. For more information on the CWS Emergency Response Program, visit http://www.churchworldservice.org. One Great Hour of Sharing
Since 1949, Presbyterians have joined with millions of other Christians through One Great Hour of Sharing to share God's love with people experiencing need. Our gifts support ministries of disaster response, refugee assistance and resettlement, and community development that help people find safe refuge, start new lives, and work together to strengthen their families and communities. Recognizing that the hope we have in Christ is lived out in our hope for one another, we respond with gifts that help our sisters and brothers around the world find the hope for a brighter future. OGHS funds are used for the Presbyterian Hunger Program, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, and Self-Development of People. For more information, visit http://www.pcusa.org/oghs.
