to EAT, to serve, and to learn about Jesus and yourself. In addition to the local
happenings, we are active with the youth of
Shenandoah Presbytery.

February Youth Activities
Sunday, February 7: No Youth Group.
Enjoy the Super Bowl! Cheer loudly, and pray that the players, coaches, referees, and fans all have a safe experience at the game. Also, come to the worship service and support our Souper Bowl of Caring event.

Celebrate Valentine's Day with our Friends at the Mayflower. Come to Westfel for a delicious, homemade dinner. Afterwards, we will walk to the Mayflower to give joy and fellowship to the residents.

We encourage all youth members to participate in the Festival of Faith events.

Babysitting Fundraiser to benefit the Senior High Mission Trip to Philadelphia. Come with an energetic and positive attitude to babysit for the children of church families.
March Youth Activities
SPYCE Senior High Winter Retreat: March 5-7.
Please check the March newsletter for additional youth events scheduled in March.
We invite eighth graders and any older youth who have not been confirmed to attend these classes, which will be offered from February 28 until Pentecost on May 23. Confirmation takes place during worship on Sunday, May 23. Bill Klein will lead the classes - usually a couple of times a month. Adult mentors will also assist as you explore what it means to be a Presbyterian Christian, learn to express your personal faith, and examine your own gifts that may be used toward the mission of the church. More information about confirmation will be available shortly.
Youth Mission - 2010
High School Mission Trip to Philadelphia
Rising ninth graders through this year's senior graduates are invited to join the youth group from June 13-18 on a mission trip to Philadelphia. This trip is booked through YouthWorks, a well-established Christian mission group which specializes in mission trips for teenagers. We currently have twenty spots for high school youth and adult chaperones. To guarantee your spot on the trip, please let Diana know if you plan to attend.

Join high school students from churches throughout our Presbytery for this weekend of exploring what causes divisiveness, where it exists in your world and in your church, how each individual's God-given gifts and diversity can bring about unity, and how necessary it is to hold to your own authentic beliefs as you also accept others' beliefs.
Nathan Peifer, Director of Youth Ministries at Trinity Avenue Prsbyterian Church in Durham, NC, will be the keynote speaker. He has attended youth ministry courses at Duke Divinity School and Union Theological Seminary-PSCE. Beginning this fall, he will attend Wake Forest School of Divinity.
There will be small group discussion and projects, a spirituality center, energizers, music, outdoor games and free time. This is a weekend planned by the SPYCE youth, including our very own Jamie Floyd. Registration flyers are available on the table outside Olivia's office. Please complete and return to Olivia, so she may send them to the registrar and help to plan transportation for our youth.
Montreat Youth Conference: July 18-24

Called from the chaos, we gather in this sacred space, rooted in God's call and purpose. We seek to provide an authentic community of unconditional love where each individual gives and receives support, trust, and acceptance from others. We will encourage and empower youth to encounter God in, through, and with each other to ask questions, embrace challenges, and be commissioned to apply their faith relevantly in the world.

Presbyterian Youth Triennium: July 19-24

At the Presbyterian Youth Triennium, through the presentations, the studies, recreational events and free time we strive to connect youth and adults with activities that inspire them to be alert, be active and seek ways to connect their lives with their growing faith. Montreat & Triennium Registration
Youth in Shenandoah Presbytery have the opportunity to be a part of these great faith building experiences! Please read the Registration Steps below:
- Shenandoah Presbytery will send TWO groups to summer conferences in 2010. Youth in your congregation are invited to register for either trip. We are pre-registering and committing funds for 18 to attend Triennium and 18 to attend Montreat. This includes adults.
- YOU and YOUR youth may attend either Montreat or Triennium as a church group.
- The Presbytery is covering the full costs for all adults in attendance and partial costs for the youth. Costs listed below reflect the underwriting by the Presbytery.
- Triennium will cost $300 for each youth for the conference and travel. Print the Triennium registration form found at www.shenpres.org and mail with a $150 deposit to Registrar Norma Jean Shaw, 108 Shepherds Court, Stephens City, VA 22655. Email questions to njshaw63@msn.com
- Montreat will cost $400 for each youth and this covers the conference and travel. Print the Montreat registration form from www.shenpres.org and mail with a $200 deposit to Registrar Olivia Patton, Lexington Presbyterian Church, 120 S. Main Street, Lexington, VA 24450. Email questions to opatton@lexpres.org
- Deadline for registering for either event is February 15th, 2010
- Deadline for final payment of fees is April 1st , 2010
