Lexington Presbyterian - Opportunities to Serve

There are a number of current needs in the church. Some are for time, some are for donated materials. Some may require an ongoing time commitment, others may be a one-time effort. Please review these and prayerfully consider where God is calling you to be His hands and feet.

Immediate Need

Missing Library Books

There are a number of books missing. The librarian has called, spoken to, or left notes for those she can identify, but she has no way of tracing, for example, the two books by Barack Obama, Dreams from my Father and The Audacity of Hope, which were simply taken. Among missing books that were partially checked out but the cards not signed are The Language of Feelings by David Viscott and A Patchwork Planet by Ann Tyler. Occasionally the librarian orders replacement copies, only to have the vanished ones suddenly reappear. Unfortunately space limitations mean we can seldom shelve multiple copies of the same book.

Please check to see if you might have these missing books and return them.

Vacation Bible School

The Christian Education Committee needs a group of four or five individuals to plan Vacation Bible School this year. The curriculum will be Cokesbury's Galactic Blast which focuses on praising our wonderful, incredible, amazing, magnificent, and awesome God. The children will explore outer space, gain a new perspective on our planet Earth, and learn "green" earth tips they can practice at home. Dates have not been set, and this VBS leadership group will need to do that. They will also help with finding adult leaders, planning and creating publicity, organizing registration, and making other strategic decisions about VBS.

Please consider giving some time to help with this great once-a-year children's program. Contact Olivia to get involved immediately.

Adult Chaperones Needed for Senior High Mission Trip

The senior high youth will participate in a mission trip to Philadelphia, PA, from June 13 through June 18. The youth group needs two additional chaperones for this trip; at least one of them must be male, and both must be over 25 years of age. The duties of a chaperone include driving the group to and from Philadelphia, driving the group to work sites once in Philadelphia, and guiding the youth as a trustworthy leader. If you would like to volunteer, or know more information about the trip, please contact Diana.
