We offer numerous opportunities to get to know people who are interested in
the same things that interest you. Some of these are simply to have fun or
enjoy a good meal together. Others include elements of study or service.

The end of summer brings new students to Lexington, giving us that opportunity once again to invite these young people into our church community and to get to know some of them personally. Each year we offer the Adopt-a-Student program to make them feel at home in Lexington.
This ministry provides exam care packages for local students and cards and gift certificates to LPC youth away at college.
For 2010 we invite our college students to consider the College Conference at Montreat January 2-5. This year's theme is "God Without Borders" and participants will explore how God's transcendent love and power can help us overcome and transform the boundaries we place on ourselves and between ourselves and others. The conference will also look at how these borders prevent us from becoming the community God calls us to be in Christ Jesus. This conference is designed to serve college students of all denominations. The leadership for the conference is a very exciting and challenging group of pastors, theologians and musicians. For more information, please see www.montreat.org and look under Conferences. Registration is already taking place and they have more than 500 college students registered thus far, so if you are interested, check it out right away.
Fellowship featuring coffee during the cold months, lemonade during the warm months, and cookies all year follows the 11:00am service (10:00am in summer). During the colder months we meet in Dunlap Auditorium. When it is warmer, we gather in the garden between the sanctuary and Murray Hall.
Coffee and snacks are also available before and after the 8:45am service in Dunlap Auditorium during the winter months.
Frequently throughout the year the Congregational Life Committee hosts congregational dinners that include great food and an informative program. We invite all who are interested to attend. You do not have to be a member of the church or to prepare and bring food. There is typically a charge of $7 per adult and $3 for children under six with a maximum of $20 per family. We request advance signup. Check upcoming events for current schedules. The newsletter also contains information about upcoming dinners.
In-home fellowship provides an opportunity to nurture a sense of community and belonging among our adult members. We meet monthly in groups of 12 or 15 people October through May, in the homes of group members. Together we enjoy a fine meal and lots of good fellowship. The purpose is to get to know others in the congregation while at the same time to do a little soul searching through suggestions and questions provided by Bill Klein.

The Saturday Morning Men's Fellowship Group meets at 7:30am the second Saturday of the month from September to May. Meetings take place in the Stonewall Jackson Museum room, last one hour, and include breakfast (provided on a rotation basis by each member) and a discussion of an assigned reading. Adult men of all ages are welcome.
During the winter of 2010, the group is discussing Following Jesus in a Culture of Fear by Scott Bader-Sayer. This book examines the fear that pervades our world and is permeated through politics, marketing, news programming and popular culture. It draws on Christian Scripture and practices of hospitality, generosity and peacefulness as bold means to counter this fear and the harm it does to our moral lives.
During the summer months the group will meet at a local restaurant to discuss a recent sermon or other pertinent topic.

Our purpose is stated as: Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, we commit ourselves: to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study, to support the mission of the church worldwide, to work for justice and peace, and to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (USA) and witnesses to the promise of God's kingdom.
We invite you to look further at our information on Presbyterian Women.Three Sunday evenings during the summer, we invite you to a very casual, informal, and unstructured covered dish supper at the Manse, located at 6 White Street. The idea is for folks to bring whatever dish they wish to be thrown together for a meal on the Klein's lawn. There may be games of chase and freeze tag. There will be plenty of sitting around under huge shade trees and chewing the fat. All you have to bring is a dish, a lawn chair, an interest in spending some unhurried time with your church family, and a notion to pig out.
We begin gathering around 5:30 on each of the three Sunday evenings. Supper usually happens around 6:00. We go as long as you wish. The object is to have fun together as a church family. You are invited to bring guests.
During the summer of 2010 we are planning the June gathering to be at the manse, but the July and August gatherings to be at other locations. In July we will enjoy a baseball game with the Rockbridge Rapids. Plans are underway for our August gathering.
