A Congregational meeting has been called for Sunday, February 12, by a unanimous vote of Session for the purpose of extending a call to Sarah L. Hill to become our Associate Pastor.
Her duties will include preaching once every six weeks (on average), assisting with worship leadership on a regular basis, and participating in the worship life of the congregation. Her primary responsibility will be in the area of Christian Education -- working with the children and youth programs. As time allows, she will work with the campus fellowship program and adult classes, as well.
For more details about this call, please check the February newsletter.
Youth Time and Talent Auction, 16 February.

Are you at a place in your spiritual journey that a weekend retreat in silence intrigues you? The Holy Cross Abbey, a Trappist Monastery in Berryville, Virginia offers such an opportunity. Their retreat house can house up to 15 guests, each with a private bedroom and bathroom and guests are provided three meals a day. All guests are welcome to attend the five services of the monastic day and to use the gift of silence to be still, and to rest in God's presence.
If this kind of retreat intrigues you, please be in touch with Deb Klein. She will tell you more about the plans to go as a group and meet together once each day for discussion, questions or sharing. The guest house fills up quickly for weekend retreats, so that reservations will have to be made by the first week in October to assure a place in February. Deb has gone twice to the abbey and looks forward to sharing this prayerful experience with others.

The date, June 22-30, is the second week of the Music and Worship Conference at Montreat, NC. For the third year in a row, our church has rented two cottages for this conference. They are next to each other, just an 8 minute walk to Lake Susan, and are air conditioned. One has a huge covered porch and a balcony from bedrooms. The other has five bedrooms. At Montreat we gather for fellowship, food, fun, spiritual inspiration and, as one person this year put it, "a renewal experience."
Click for a testimonial by Amy DeHart of her experience this past summer.
There are even scheduled activities for toddlers, children, and youth not enrolled in the conference. Call Barbara Winfrey at 463-5500 or Lila Rogers at the church office.
