Momentum is building for this fall’s Habitat for Humanity project! Lexington Presbyterian will be one of 8 to 10 local churches participating in this endeavor, which is known as a “Faith Build.” As with the many other Habitat projects our church has supported, the Faith Build will help a local family become owners of a new home. The project can also strengthen relationships between area churches and provide visible evidence to the community of faith in action.
The Session has committed a remarkable $30,000 from our endowment funds to support this project, a demonstration of how highly it regards the outreach opportunity. But the house doesn’t get built without volunteer labor. You’ll be hearing soon about plenty of opportunities to lend a hand -– whether providing lunch for work crews or hammering nails yourself. No prior construction experience is required – and you are welcome to invite friends, family members and non-church members. Consider putting together a team of friends to volunteer once a week and share the inspiring experience of watching a home become a reality.
Watch “The City” this summer for more details about the house location, its prospective owners, and the groundbreaking. Pam Luecke has agreed to be the church’s liaison for the Faith Build.
