Third Sunday Brunch
On January 21 we will have Sunday Brunch after the 11 am service. Remember to invite friends and take them “out” to lunch right in our
own Dunlap Auditorium: a great way to repay holiday gatherings!
4th Monday of Each Month—Desserts: We are entering our fourth year of providing desserts for The Community Table. These dessert provide a sweet ending to a lovely four-course meal served to an average of 170 people each week. The dessert is greatly appreciated by the volunteers who prepare and serve the meals and by the people enjoying the meal. For January we are preparing lemon pound cakes. If you are able to prepare one or two, please contact Mary Beth Baker (moc.o1516530354ohay@151653035453rek1516530354abbm1516530354). Desserts maybe left in Brady Chapel kitchenette by noon on Monday or delivered directly to The Community Table (350 Spotswood Drive) between 2 and 5:30pm.
5:00pm - 5:30pm
Thursday Bible study and prayer: Beginning this Thursday, August 3, Bill Klein will offer a half-hour time of Bible study and prayer each Thursday at 5:00PM in Brady Chapel. It is a mid-week opportunity to be re-grounded in the grace of our Christ through the words of scripture and prayers for one another. Make plans to include this weekly time of devotion before heading home after work.
Come hear what’s happening in Puerto Rico and find out what you can do to help. Join us in our efforts to bring Puerto Rican culinary students, whose school was destroyed by Hurricane Maria, to Rockbridge County where they will continue their studies at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College (DSLCC). The fundraiser dinner features authentic Puerto Rican dishes including beans and rice, plantains, roast pork and chicken, rice pudding and more. There will be presentations by George Huger, chef/owner of the Souther Inn, Ben Worth, Vice President of Academic Affairs at DSLCC, and Aly Colón, W&L journalism professor. We will Skype with Juan Rivera, president of the Asociación Gastronómica y Culinary de Puerto Rico. The dinner is free.
