Congregational Life Committee Report
April 1, 2008
Overall goal - To increase the fellowship and sense of community among
all members of the congregation.

- Congregational Meals:
- Dinner- Apr. 12, Campus Kitchen program
- Community Pot Luck - May 6; 180 people attended
- House Church Lunch - Sep. 23
- Indian Summer Picnic - Oct. 18, 85 people attended
- Pancake Breakfast - Nov. 18, 125 people attended
- Advent Soup and Sing Along - Dec. 2, 100 plus people attended
- Joy Luncheon - Dec. 16, 150 people attended
- Festival of Faith Sunday night dinner, Jan. 27, 75 plus people attended
- Ash Wednesday service and dinner - Feb. 6, meal provided by other
committees, some people on the Congregational Life Committee helped. 85
people attended
- Easter Sunrise Breakfast - Mar. 23, Approximately 80 people attended.
This included members of First Baptist Church, Randolph Street First
Methodist Church, and Trinity Methodist Church.
Programs for the dinners were provided by other committees.
- Other Events:
- SOWS - (Supper on White Street), 3 during the summer months - June 10,
July 22, and Aug. 26. Two are potluck, one is provided by Congregational
Life Committee.
- Senior Program - at Kendal on Apr.19. Fairly well attended.
- Salem Avalanche Baseball game on June 16
- Programs:
- The Kitchen Coordinator, Joyce Fraley, is responsible for maintaining
the basic supplies
in the kitchen including paper goods, coffee, lemonade, and cookies for
Coffee/ Lemonade Fellowship after worship. These supplies are used by many different
groups in the
church. She also makes the purchases for groceries for dinners/lunches
when appropriate.
- House Church - there are a total of 5 House Church groups with a total
of approximately 75 people.
- Friends in Need - coordinated by Alice Correll and Mary Beth Baker -
provide meals when accepted for recent illnesses, hospitalizations,
deaths, or births, in church families. Also, provides a welcome gift -
bread or something similar - to new members. Since Dec. 2007 through
Feb. 2008, provided 9 meals, and 7 welcome gifts. Also, provided 6 meals
to non-member community family.
